A possible sighting of Susan Bachman is prompting her family to take a road trip to find her.
State police received news of a sighting of the Julian woman earlier this week. A truck driver said he picked her up in Pennsylvania on July 10 at a truck stop off Interstate 80, the same road where she jumped out of a moving car on July 4 as her parents were driving her to a voluntary stay at the Clarion Psychiatric Center.
The truck driver said he dropped her off at a truck stop near Gary, Ind., and that she wanted to continue west. Bachman allegedly caused a disturbance at the truck stop as she tried to get other drivers to take her westward. A security guard eventually asked her to leave the property. The guard said she had no identification and refused to give her name.
Bachman left her wallet, credit cards and cellphone in a barn after jumping from the car. They were found with the help of search dogs the day she disappeared.
The woman at the truck stop is said to have had bruises on her lower arms and scabbed-over wounds, which would be consistent with healing from the week-old incident.
Will Bachman, Susan’s brother, said his parents, Bill and Nancy, are now heading west on I-80.
“They plan to stop at every rest stop and truck stop ... driving to California in search of Susan,” he said. They will post updates on social media and the family’s website about their search,www.findsusanbachman.com.
