Help the family problem solve where Susan might be

The family would like to crowdsource ideas on where Susan might have gone - often the wisdom of crowds is better than any single mind.

This is how the family is thinking about what the six possibilities could possibly include. We think that #1 and #5 are the most likely scenarios.

1. Susan hitched a ride out of the area.
We hope that by spreading awareness via Facebook and with posting of flyers, we can reach the driver who gave Susan a lift, and that driver will contact the police.

2. Susan is still in the area, has not sought shelter, is traveling by foot, and she is still alive.
We hope by making all local residents aware of the case, that anyone in the area who notices anything suspicious in the woods will immediately notice the PA State Police.

3. Susan is still in the area, did not seek shelter, was traveling by foot, but has passed away.
We have little means of taking action against this possibility. Two searches of the area have already been conducted, and the possible radius at this point is too large for a search. Obviously, we are hoping that this scenario does not turn out to be the case.

4. Susan is still in the area and has obtained shelter from a  local resident.
We don't think that it is very likely that a local resident would continue to provide shelter to Susan after the awareness generated by the media and word-of-mouth. If a local resident IS providing Susan with shelter, however, we beg that person to contact the authorities.

5. Susan is still in the area and has obtained shelter in an abandoned or vacant building, such as a hunting cabin.
We ask that anyone owning a seasonally-occupied building in the area check it to confirm Susan is not there. Either by personally visiting, or asking a neighbor.

6. Susan has been admitted to an Emergency Room or obtained shelter at a homeless shelter or a woman's shelter.
Given that Susan is without personal identification, we think this scenario is unlikely, as we expect the ER or shelter would contact police after providing emergency care to someone without ID.

Are we missing anything? Please let us know any other angles you suggest we ought to pursue as a comment to this post or email us as FindSusanBachman@gmail.com

  1. Ms. Bachman has red hair, which is relatively rare. She might be wearing a hat (or dye her hair) to hide that.
