Susan Bachman jumped from her father’s car when he was taking her to a psychiatric center for psychological issues and ran away into the woods. FAMILY PHOTOFlyers of Bachman are being placed at truck stops in Pennsylvania and neighboring states to raise awaremenss of her disappearance.
The family of a missing Pennsylvania woman with psychological issues is turning to the public for help finding her.
Susan L. Bachman, 37, who suffers from depression and anxiety, jumped from a moving car and fled into the woods when her father was driving her to Clarion Psychiatric Center for treatment Friday.
"We have been actively reaching out to community groups across the states as well as companies to spread awareness of Susan's disappearance," her brother Will Bachman told the Daily News.
She may be suicidal or at risk of hurting herself.
Bachman is usually friendly and generous when not going through an episode. Highly intelligent, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Penn State University in 2000 and got a nursing degree in 2012. Sadly, her emotional issues have prevented her from working in recent years.
Her family thinks there are six possibilities for what could have happened to her: (1) She hitched a ride out of the area, (2) she is traveling by foot in the area, (3) she has passed away in the area, (4) she sought shelter someone in the area, (5) she found an abandoned or vacant hunting cabin or (6) she entered a homeless or women's shelter.
HTTP://WWW.FINDSUSANBACHMAN.COM/Susan Bachman has been missing since Friday. The 37-year-old was being driven to a psychiatric center for treatment when she jumped from a moving vehicle.
"We're trying to crowdsource the thinking a little bit to see if there's anything that we're missing," Will Bachman said.
TravelCenters of America, a truck stop chain, agreed Wednesday morning to put a missing flyer in all of its locations in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
Jack Cooper Transport, a truck company that hauls light vehicles, offered to post the flyer in all its depots so it can be seen by all of its drivers.
"If she's out of the area," Will Bachman said. "All we have to do is reach the one driver who gave her a lift who could tell us where he dropped her off. If she's still in the area, then we think the most likely scenario is that she has found shelter in an abandoned building."
Local authorities conducted a five-hour search of the area the day she leapt out of the moving vehicle near Brookville. It included troopers, firefighters, dogs, helicopters and more.
